The TimberEDU Summer School brought together 30 students and 15 professors from six European higher education institutions for a practice-oriented learning experience in sustainable timber construction. Working in transdisciplinary and multicultural teams, students combined project-based learning, real-world case studies, technical visits and hands-on laboratory activities.
One of the aims of the TimberEDU project is to produce teaching/learning materials and test them out in the summer school. However, one of the topics being developed is too long for the summer school, so an aditional Erasmus+ BIP was organised in TTK, Estonia.
The TimberEDU team had a fantastic week of timber education in the northeast of Italy from 19-24 May 2025. The week commenced with the professional training organized by Rothoblaas and was finished with the transnational coordination meeting in University of Trento.
In addition to the The TimberEDU Introduction conference in October 2024, a transnational coordination meeting took place at the University of Galway on the 11th of October 2024. The topics under discussion were the results of the conference that had just ended and the next steps for the project.
The first TimberEDU conference took place on the 10th of October 2024 in Galway, Ireland.
The conference and workshop was a fruitful event for the TimberEDU project with our aim to “train the teachers” and it also provided excellent networking opportunities for those present.
In May 2024 the TimberEDU project team came together for the second time when Laurea UAS hosted the transnational coordination meeting as well as the face-to-face pedagogical training in Leppävaara, Finland. The first day was dedicated to the transnational coordination meeting and the following three days for the pedagogical training lead by Laurea UAS.
The first face-to-face meeting of the TimberEDU project team took place on the 11.-12. January 2024 in TTK University of Applied Sciences in Tallinn, Estonia.
